Safe TO Work (STOW) Guidance Manuals and Documents

Contractors are encouraged to utilize the following documents when preparing for the Safe TO Work (STOW) certification audit:

Safe TO Work (STOW) Contractor Guidance Manual (Version 11: February 2024) - This Manual provides details and guidance on the 11 Elements of the Safe TO Work (STOW) HSE requirements.

Safe TO Work (STOW) Administration Manual (Version 11: September 2024) - This manual provides details on the levels of risk (low risk and high risk) associated with certification as well as details on the administration of Safe TO Work (STOW). 

Sample Safe TO Work (STOW) Manual for Small and Micro Contractor - This document can be downloaded and tailored to suit the specific operations of a contractor.  

HSE Documents for Safe TO Work (STOW) Assessment Document Review This document is a checklist of all the HSE documents that an Assessor will want to see during a Safe TO Work (STOW) assessment. Contractors must have them ready and available for the Assessor to review during the assessment.

Guidance on Determining the Number of Audit Days - This document provides guidance on how the number of audit days is estimated for the Safe TO Work (STOW) certification audit.

Guidance on Use of the Safe TO Work (STOW) Logo - This document provides guidelines for use of the STOW logo.   The STOW acronym is now a trademark of the Energy Chamber.  Anyone wishing to use the Safe TO Work (STOW) Logo and acronym must first obtain permission from the Energy Chamber.
